Where to go in Holland?
Tulips, Tulips everywhere and more for the eye to see, this is the first thought that comes into my mind when I think of Netherlands. The most picturesque of the countries and what defines as a colourful, creation of god. Holland is a low-lying country where most of the countries are just hardly about one meter above the sea level which makes it very attractive.
It's world's first country with an elected parliament established in 1848, also one of the first countries to legalize same-sex marriages. As a visitor, of course, what I rarely look at are the political aspects or personal choices of the people but I would look at the Places to see in the Netherlands.
As a tourist with limited time to travel that is the best guide, I would like you to have to cover as much as possible and get the best in the least possible time. Before I start about the top Places to see in Holland, I would, of course, talk a few things about the place itself to know what to expect when you visit it.
The most important being the people as they are the ones that help complete the whole journey and be prepared for the cuisine as that would be the most genuine style to complete the journey.
Dutch society s a very modern society, and the people are more about the capabilities of the people. The people are not driven by the urge to build more for them but to enjoy the serenity of life. You may find the people blunt; however, the Dutch is just people who would not sugarcoat anything, but say it up front.
Just like the people the cuisine is straightforward. Mostly dairy products, bread and cereal. You may see a lot of carb rich food as most of the Dutch were labourers and so the cuisine continued. Some parts of the countryside you will see more refined food like soups, stews and also pastries.
Must-see Places to visit in the Netherlands
You have a variety of attractions when you visit here the museums for art enthusiast, you have the amusement parks, and of course the Tulip gardens or you can visit the city of Amsterdam, which in itself is a never-ending light life.
World's largest flower field Keukenhof is one of the coolest and best places to see in the Netherlands. It has over 7 million flower bulbs planted every year to a full bloom and attracting the crowds.
The sea of colour just mesmerises you and maybe you will feel like being a part of the enchanted era where nature was the artist. Best time to tour is between March and May, as you will see the flowers in full glory. I am sure once you have seen it you will put it on your must-see places to visit in Holland.
The Vogel park Avifauna
The next one of the top places to see in the Netherlands is the Vogel park Avifauna this is world's first only birds park. It features a few species of bird, which have been given sanctuary here; apart from this you will see ponds. Birds you will see if Macaw, the bald eagle, ostrich among other different species.
The Paleis Het Loo
The next one on my agenda of places to see in the Netherlands is the Paleis Het Loo; it's the heritage site of the country. You will see a lot of collections from the palace. These are the original items of the palace. You can see stables, gardens, park and of the course ballroom.
Open-air museum
The next one on the list is an open-air museum. It features antique farms and factories of the different era. Why it's one of the best sites to see in the Netherlands is because it almost is like walking through history.
National Park de Hoga Veluwe
The next one that I really enjoyed is the 55 KM national park, Nationale Park de Hoga Veluwe. It has landscapes and sand dunes, also has a vast collection of Van Gogh paintings. It also has one of the largest sculpture gardens.
The Sex-museum Amsterdam Venustempel
Of course after all these walking through nature and art, here is something that I think is almost unlikely to find in any other parts it's the Sexmuseum Amsterdam Venustempel. This place takes you through the history of eroticism. Features vast items from the past that will be a sight to see and a little jolt on all your senses. Of course, you need to be over 16 to visit this site.
The Heineken Museum
You cannot come to Netherland and not see the Heineken Museum. This is one of the world's most marketed beer. This place takes you through the history of this brewery. You can move through the place at your pace. Of course be prepared as there would be a lot of crowds. Unbelievable, I guess not.
The Anne Frank Huis
The last on my list of the most exciting places to see in Holland is the Anne Frank Huis. This is the place that Anne Frank and her family hid for over two years with the entrance covered with a bookcase.
Well, that was all in my list for today. However, I would suggest that you make a list of places to go and travel before you go and find out the best time to visit each of the placed.
